Idea 2

Our idea is to have a old man who takes a journey out of a care home for a day doing shopping and he then when he is in town encounters many different challenges these challenges include various different trips to different locations such as leeds city centre and Ilkley town also the bus and train journeys to these places during his so called adventures during his adventures the song title look right through will happen as the people around town don't notice him as he has a difficult town experience.. The old man towards the end of the music video ends up in a night club which then he comes out of himself and  shows a different side to an old man stereotype by having a mad time in the club whilst pulling out some buster moves. Our main influences from this are Old man Pranks by Sam Pepper and Bad Grandpa which is a new released movie in 2013 also we have decided to not take ideas from the film UP as it has no real relevance to our idea anymore.

Podcast Week 3

This week we have researched target audience about if the song works and with these we will gain audience feedback with a vodcast uploaded on that. And will help us with target audience research

Audience Research

Primary Audience
Our primary audience is age 14 - 21 of a female and male gender. This is because the music genre and song is liked by this range of age and gender. This genre is becoming increasing popular and was widely listened to over the summer as most festivals included this type of music. We have chosen this audience to be our primary audience because we feel that we will get the most positive

Look Right Through (MK Dub III) Edited Radio Friendly Version

We edited the original mix of the song to a radio friendly length suitable for the public to watch and listen to rather than a lengthly 6 minutes. We altered it down to 4:15, which will be more suitable to create a music video for, for an audience to watch without the narrative or visuals to be too tedious or lengthily. We used the software Audacity to edit the video shorter and used tools to loop and fade out the audio. 







First i selected the area i wanted to remove then deleted the selection.











I then selected the area i wanted looping, and copied it.











After, i clicked at the end of the song and pasted the area i selected several times.









After i then selected the last 15 seconds of the song and used an effect called fade out. This slowly ended the song smoothly.







Finally i then saved the song as an MP3. This new edited version is now radio friendly as the length is just right.










GH Characters Costume and Make Up Vodcast


Characters, Costume and Makeup

In our music video idea we will be including several characters. However the main character included in the music video of whom will be in the majority of all shots will be the Old Man character. This will be played by Patrick Pointon using the disguise. The disguise will consist of a mask, glasses, flat cap, black gloves, chords (trousers), white creamy shirt, blazer, glasses, shoes and a walking stick. All of this will create verisimilitude and crete a realistic looking character for the music video. This character and the others will not be needing to use makeup as there is no other fancy dress to be worn. 

The other characters in the video will be our friends at the party of which we will be filming. This will be perfect as the peoples costumes will create verisimilitude of a party to suit the music genre. The last people in the video will be the audience and crowd of whom we will be filming there reactions to the old man. These play a key part in the video as it will create a sense of realism and prank styled feel to the video.

Finding A Target Audience (Primary and Secondary)





To gain research for our primary and secondary audiences we are going to devise a series of questions to ask random students and teachers within our school to find a target audience for our music video. This will help us create a much better quality video as we can target a specific age range.

First we are going to play our track to the audience and then ask them the series of questions below.
  • Do you own or stream this track (original) 
  • Do you own or stream tracks by this artist (MK) ?
  • If not, would you consider buying or streaming this track or anything by this act?
  • Can you name any other tracks by this artist?
  • What would you expect to see in one of there videos?
  • Who would you consider to be the target audience for this act?
  • Do you like the House/Deep House genre?
  • Do you think this genre of music will appeal to a large audience?
  • Do you think this genre of music is more popular between 14 - 25 year olds or 25+?
Our idea is of an Old Man walking around town struggling whilst everyone looks right through him (like the title). However when the music drops the old man chucks away his stick and starts dancing. We will be filming peoples reactions as this wont be staged and will be included in the video. We will include special effects on the video in certain parts to suit the genre of music.

Locations and Vodcast

The locations which we have decided to shoot our A2 music video vary from however we might not decide to use all the footage used and shot at all of these locations and only use some, these are;

  • Ilkley Town
  • Leeds Town (Briggate)
  • Beat Bar (Leeds)
  • Ilkley Park
  • Care Home
  • Various Shops around town 
  • Train Station
  • Leeds Briggate
  • Leeds Victoria Quarter
As mentioned before not all of these locations will necessarily be shot due to it being too confusing to the audience, However we need to have enough shots of different locations to achieve a sense of verisimilitude which will help our media production look better. We feel that the locations we have chosen to shoot at will look good if edited well. These locations will look good due to it being in the real life setting of a town and a park and a elderly peoples care home which we have acsess too so that again will achieve more verisimilitude

Music Vid Sequence 1 Feedback

The feedback we received from our Music Video 20 seconds sequence 1 clip was mostly positive points this was the clip


New ideas which we received for either our own video or the second viral video were very constructive  these being that we should either go with the original idea which is stated in the post New Group Pitch GH/BB or we should have a more serious approach to it where by we actually get a real elderly person to do the film and we film them, the ways we will get knowledge of which one we should choose is to put out a poll or a status on a social network such as Facebook and/or Twitter so that it can be a wider audience. Influences we will look at and take ideas from would be Films which are Muade and Me and Up where by we will look at what influences the grandad has in the film and how we can build up an appearance and personality for our character. Also the music video we have been told to look at is Da Funk by Daft Punk where by with the character its sort of like a documentary and this would also be another approach which we can look at and take aspects from.

New Group Pitch GH/BB

For my music pitch i have selceted the deep house genre. I have chosen this genre as it is becoming increaingly popular with the younger generation of whom this will be the target audience. With my idea i have chosen there to be one main charcter in the video who follows a no liniar narrative on a journey. The main charcter will be one of us students however dressed up as an old ageg pentioner with a proper pr
ostetic mask and clothing as it would be a countertype to the usual music video dancer. It would also include other student who the dance along with him on the chorus. The mask on the right can be bought off eBay for £34.99 of which is a reasonable price if three students chipped in for it, and we could gather the clothes from our homes as they wouldn't be hard to find.



 The main storyline would be that on the first 55 seconds it would be a story line of following this old man around watching him as he can hardly walk and is struggling eith his walking stick to move around town. Everyone "looks right through him" as hes old and no cares. Suddenly when the beat drops at 56 seconds he throws away his stick down and dances around and throws his shapes around. This would be perfect to do in a public place if we made the character look as realistic as possible as people would not expect him to just start dancing and we would capture the expression on peoples faces. Sam Pepper a famous YouTuber has done a video where he dresses up as an old man and does totally the opposite of what someone that age would do and he reactions are perfect for what we would want (counter type). Here are some images from the video i have screen captured to show an example.





We would also get other scenes for example at my party in a club on the 1st of November of him dancing around with girls and everyone joining in. This would be a perfect enviroment to film in as the misenscene would be already done with people partying. In conclusion, when people see the old man dancing they finally take notice of him and not look right through just because of his age and looks. The fact that we would be using a realistic mask would allow us to alternate the old aged charcter taking it in turns to be him. We would include silly dancing and funny things into the character as it would create a larger audience for the video and would work well.


I would personally want to be the old man as it would b a fun and funny role to play of which i would do in public as ive done stupid things in public before. My party at beaverworks would be a perfect place to film the party scenes as the misenscene would be perfect. We would film the first 50 seconds in Leeds city center as it is a crouded place with a lot of people. The pace of the first part of video would be very slow but with considerate amount of shot variation, with a cinematic look. For an example of this in the music video Paradise by Coldplay the Elephant goes on a journey at the begginging and has a cinematic feel to it. We will try approach ours in the same way. When the music drops at 56 seconds, the pace of the video will increase dramactiaclly and the shot variation will be increased too. This will match the beat of the song.



There will be various visual effects added to the music video with indiviual scenes of the old man dancing by himself where we can have him dancing in three locations in the same scene. This can be easily done by using Adobe After Effects on Windows or even Final Cut Pro X on Mac. For anexample of this here is an image of duplicating i have done myself of the same person.

 Another effect we would use on the dancing is this white line effect i added on my self. This creates a cool effect which can work well in music videos. To see these effects i made,used watch this videohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_893G6ywhZc 





The song does not have an official video yet, this would be very helpful as if we were to create one it would be easier to advertise and be viewed as it will be the first video for it. People would watch the video as the is one of 2013's biggest summer tunes of which our target audience will of heard.
